Balloon mitral valvotomy is a minimally invasive procedure that serves to treat mitral valve stenosis ,a condition characterized by the narrowing of the mitral valve, which restricts blood flow. During this procedure, a catheter with a balloon tip is forwarded to move toward the valve, inflated to gently stretch the valve opening, thus improving blood flow with a decrease in symptoms of shortness of breath and fatigue. This procedure is minimally invasive compared to surgical intervention; thus, faster recovery and considerable relief can be provided to the patients who are suffering from mitral valve disease.
